Enhanced R&D of dental and orthopaedic ceramic implants. 1977 Opened sales office (dental products) in the head office. 1978 Launched ceramic dental implant (BIOCERAM). 1982 Launched total hip joints (Type1, Type2, Type4, Type5, Type1-Long). 1986 Launched total knee joint (KOM, KC, TD). 1987 Launched ceramic Bi-Polar hip joint. 1988 Launched total hip joint (PHS-6). 1990 Launched 22mm high purity alumina femoral head. 1991 Launched two-piece dental implant (POI 2 System). 1994 Launched three-piece dental implant (POI 3 System). 1995 Established product center at the Yokaichi plant. Metal Technology (Kobe Steel, Ltd.) 1984 Started R&D of medical materials. 1990 Opened sales office in Kobe head office. Launched hip joint for tumor (Hip System H-1). 1991 Started clinical evaluation of cemented hip joint (SS Hip System) made of Ti-15Mo-5Zr-3Al alloy. 1992 Started clinical evaluation of cementless hip joint (ABC Hip System) made of Ti-6Al-2Nb-ITa-0.8Mo alloy. 1994 Launched knee joint for tumor (Knee System K-2). 1995 Launched cemented hip joint (SS Hip System). 1996 Launched cementless hip joint (ABC Hip System).
